Lucas Haddock NEWSROOM

Lucas Haddock, aged 17, is an apprentice at Content With Media – a business based at Shire Hall Business Centre in Stafford.

A student has landed an apprenticeship, thanks to a Stafford-based enterprise centre providing the perfect space for businesses to grow and take on new talent.

Watch on YouTube: How an enterprise centre helped me get my apprenticeship

Lucas Haddock is an apprentice at Content With Media, a specialist media business located at Shire Hall Business Centre, one of Staffordshire County Council’s eight enterprise centres.

The company, founded by journalist and PR professional Peter Haddock, focuses on creating content for the construction and plant sectors, from videos and podcasts to written articles.

Peter was one of the first businesses to move into Shire Hall after starting his company in 2019. The professional office space has allowed his business to expand, welcome clients and, importantly, offer opportunities to apprentices like Lucas.

Lucas, aged 17, said:

“Content With Media having an office here has enabled me to actually get this apprenticeship.

“You can hire out meeting spaces here and we can bring people in to help us in the workplace, say if we need someone to help edit videos, who you wouldn’t necessarily be like ‘come into my home’. You’ve got better access to the town as well so, on your lunch breaks, you can go out for a walk or even do your shopping.

“I like being based in an office because I’d rather rest and chill out at home, not sit there and work all the time.”

The support provided by enterprise centres like Shire Hall Business Centre means more businesses can create jobs and apprenticeships, helping young people kick-start their careers in Staffordshire.

Philip White, Staffordshire County Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Economy and Skills, said:

“National Apprenticeship Week is the perfect time to celebrate the incredible opportunities our enterprise centres help create.

“Lucas’s story is a fantastic example of how providing flexible, affordable workspaces enables businesses to grow and invest in future talent.

“Our eight enterprise centres across Staffordshire offer the perfect launchpad for small businesses whether they need office space, workshops, or meeting rooms. By supporting local businesses, we’re also helping to create more opportunities for apprentices and job seekers like Lucas.”

Staffordshire County Council’s enterprise centres provide a range of flexible workspaces, with meeting rooms and hot desks also available to book at selected locations.
