Staff working in social care across Staffordshire have been praised for their dedication in supporting the most vulnerable in the county.
Alan White, Leader of Staffordshire County Council, said:
“Our social care teams do a fantastic job in helping to protect the most vulnerable children, young people and adults in our county.
“At this county council, we are extremely fortunate to have some of the most dedicated and hardworking staff working day in and day out, in often quite upsetting or difficult circumstances.
“During Social Work Week, I would like to thank them for their amazing efforts and encourage anyone interested in a career in social work to find out more this week. There are plenty of opportunities for those just starting out or for those looking to get back to work.”
One such person is Konstantinia Tilkeridou who wanted to return to work following a career break. Konstantinia said that a county council employment service helped her secure her dream job.
She is now working for Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT) after contacting the Staffordshire Jobs and Careers service and after taking a break to raise her family.
Konstantinia said that working with the service’s employment brokers helped her feel more confident through expert advice, learning effective interview techniques and support to find suitable local job opportunities.
Konstantinia added:
“The most rewarding part of working in the social care sector is the opportunity to help those in need and make a positive difference in their lives. You feel like an active member of society, especially when you can see the positive impact on the lives of the people you support."
Philip White, Staffordshire County Council’s deputy leader and cabinet member for economy and skills said:
“Staffordshire Jobs and Careers can help anyone to find the job, skills or training they need – at any stage of their career. Congratulations to Konstantinia for getting back into her dream career.
“There are so many people that want to get back into work after a break, but don’t know where to start. With the fully funded one-to-one sessions from our employment service, people can not only find job opportunities and learn interview skills, but also look at the transferable skills, training, or development they may need.”
