- Stone canoeist Adam Burgess has added to Staffordshire's medal tally at the Paris Olympics this week, with a thrilling silver in the men's canoe slalom. He saw off stiff competition to finish the slalom in 96.84 seconds, managing to successfully banish the hurt of the Tokyo Olympics where he missed out on bronze by just 2 hundredths of a second.

- Staffordshire's swimming superstar Adam Peaty has won silver in the 100m breaststroke at the Olympic Games in Paris. Already the current Olympic and world record holder, the Staffordshire swimmer held his nerve to clinch joint silver in a time of 59.05, only beaten to the gold by 2 hundredths of a second.
