School lane Dunston Bridge
Staffordshire County Council is replacing Dunston Bridge which crosses Pothooks Brook.
During the works School Lane will be closed at the location of the bridge and a signed diversion route will be in place. However, pedestrians will be able to cross the brook using a scaffold bridge.
The new bridge is necessary because the existing structure is in a distressed state and a refurbishment scheme is not viable. The new bridge will also assist with conveyance of flow in the brook.
The planned works will provide a new bridge with a minimum design life of 120 years in accordance with national guidance for accommodating future climate change flood levels.
When are the works taking place?
Work started on Monday 12 February 2024
When will the works be completed?
Work is expected to last for approximately 16 weeks.
Will I be able to access my home/business?
Yes
What effect could the works have on me?
The construction work will affect residents and road-users living nearby.
It will be necessary to close the bridge and to temporarily divert traffic along a signed route.
Pedestrian access will be maintained by an access bridge. However, there may be short periods where pedestrian access is also prohibited during critical construction activities to protect public safety.
