School Lane - Experimental traffic management scheme
We will be undertaking works in relation to an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO) traffic management scheme. School Lane footbridge has reached the end of its serviceable life and must be removed under safety grounds. In order to maximise accessibility and connectivity for all users after its removal, we are carrying out a wider traffic management scheme which includes the following highway works:
- a one-way system,
- reducing the speed limit to 20mph,
- installation of speed cushions and parking restrictions
- a new footway along School Lane, extending from the School Lane and Gravel Lane T-junction
When are the works taking place?
On the week commencing 20 March 2023.
When will the works be completed?
The works are programmed to be completed 21 April 2023.
Will I be able to access my home/business?
Temporary traffic management will be used for some of the works which will allow access to the affected properties. Residents who need direct access from the closed road to their homes can ask the traffic management team, to be safely let through. Signposted diversions will be in place for other users.
What effect could the works have on me?
Alternative route to bypass road closures on School Lane is through A449 and Rickerscote Road.
How you can help us
You can help us to get the job done with the minimum disruption by following this advice:
- Please keep children away from the works while they are being implemented to ensure their safety.
- Please drive appropriately by following the signed diversion routes and adhering to access restrictions.
- Account for possible delays when planning journeys
