Health Literacy Training
Health literacy is about people being able to understand and use information to make their own, informed decisions about their health. But 43% of adults do not have adequate literacy skills to understand health information.
Providing easy-to-understand information in accessible formats can help people to make better decisions about their health and care. At the same time, using straightforward language can give people the confidence to ask questions without feeling uncomfortable or foolish.
Health Literacy E-Learning Training
Health Education England and NHS Education for Scotland have developed a 30-minute Health Literacy E-Learning module, which is available from the E-Learning For Healthcare website.
Health Literacy ‘How to’ guide
Health Education England have produced a Health Literacy ‘how to’ guide, which covers practical tools and techniques that practitioners (from a variety of settings) can use to make the information they provide easier to understand.
