Implement a Safe Pedestrian Crossing over the A34 in Tittensor

Dear Ms Windsor,

I refer to the petition, signed by local residents regarding the pedestrian crossing over the A34 Tittensor. I can confirm that the petition will be reported to County Councillor Jeremy Pert.

The Council has no plans to consider installing a pedestrian crossing at this time, the costs associated with providing a pedestrian crossing are high, with early estimations costing around £200k.

We will however discuss this site with the Local County Councillor at the next Divisional Highway Programme (DHP) meeting, due to take place in the forthcoming months.

Before a site can be considered for a new pedestrian crossing, it will need to go through the DHP process for the necessary traffic analysis and feasibility studies to be carried out first.  The Member may consider funding further investigation into your constituents’ concerns in the future, if the matter is considered a Local Community Priority over other similarly sincere highway concerns within the division.

We are unable to confirm if (and when) an issue will be prioritised nor are we able to inform individuals of the status of their reported issue on an ongoing basis.

Whilst there are no road safety schemes planned at this moment in time, the Highways team will continue to monitor the data at this location.

Thank you once again for your petition and for bringing this matter to our attention.

Yours sincerely

Richard Rayson
