Assessment, identification and monitoring

Class/subject teachers ensure that:

  • Recent assessment information is used to gain a better understanding of an individual child/young person’s sensory, physical and medical needs and to identify whether they are a barrier to their learning in the classroom.

  • They are aware of the implications of any sensory, physical or medical conditions and any treatments that the children may have received and this is included in their One Page Profile.

  • They remain alert to any changes in sensory, physical and medical needs and gain further advice when appropriate.

  • Children/young people are involved, with their teachers, in the development and evaluation of any sensory, physical or medical support strategies in class.
