Assessment, identification and monitoring

Class/subject teachers ensure that:

  • Recent assessment information is used to gain a better understanding of an individual child/young person’s hearing impairment and to identify whether it is a barrier to their learning in the classroom.

  • They are aware of the implications of any hearing impairment and any aids that the children may need and this is included in their One Page Profile.

  • They remain alert to any changes in hearing and gain further advice when appropriate.

  • Children/young people are involved in the development and evaluation of any sensory support strategies in class.
