Categorising school performance

We categorise every school from A (no concern) to D (high concern). This determines the type and level of support they can expect from us.

Categorising school performance also allows us to target school improvement support to schools that are most in need and where we can make the biggest difference to improving education.

Academies

We are not responsible for supporting improvement action in academy schools. This is the responsibility of the new Regional School Commissioner.

We will keep a watch over academy performance and categorise academies as 'cause for concern' or 'no concern' and make sure the Commissioner knows about our performance rating.
