Assess

Assess and monitor children’s communication development as part of the Early Years Foundation Stage, using screening tools such as the Early Years Communication Screening Tool.  For more information about the Early Communication Screen contact sltnorth.admin@mft.nhs.uk.

A child should be assessed holistically, and if required, tailored support, advice or a referral to an appropriate agency, with informed parental consent.

If the child has English as a second language talk to parents about how the child performs in their home language.
