Staffordshire Moorlands

Consall Nature Park

Consall Nature Park is situated within the beautiful valley of the River Churnet. The site is owned by Staffordshire County Council, and now under the management of RSPB.

Location: Consall Nature Park, Consall Forge, Wetley Rocks, Staffordshire ST9 0AF.

Deep Hayes Country Park

Deep Hayes Country Park is a mixture of woods, meadows and pools.

Please note: Dogs must be kept on leads at this park.

Size: 60 acres (24 hectares).

Location: A53, turning off at Longsdon. Deep Hayes Visitor Centre, Deep Hayes Country Park, Park Lane, Nr. Cheddleton, Leek, Staffordshire ST13 7JS.

Facilities: Parking, baby changing, disabled access, disabled toilets, toilets, shops, picnic area, outdoor activity grounds.

Froghall Wharf

Froghall Wharf is some three miles north of Cheadle in North Staffordshire within the beautiful Churnet Valley at the end of the Cauldon Canal.

There are also a series of waymarked walks starting from the former Wharf.

Greenway Bank

Greenway Bank contains features from the days when the site was the landscaped grounds of a stately home.

Size: 114 acres (46 hectares).

Location: One mile south of Biddulph just off the A527. Greenway Bank Visitor Centre, Greenway Bank Country Park, Greenway Bank Road, Knypersley, Nr. Biddulph, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire ST8 7QX.

Please note the section of highway where Greenway Bank joins Judgefield Lane will be closed to traffic from 10th June 2024 until approximately 1st November 2024. This is due to embankment stabilisation works being completed. Both the Visitor Centre car park and Pool car park remain open, but can only be reached from the western side of Greenway Bank, accessed from Bemersley Road. (Further information on the road closure can be found on the One Network website.)

Opening hours

Car park: 
All year 9am until dusk. 

Visitor centre: Sundays only, between 9am and 4pm.

Visitor Centre and toilets will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

Leek to Rushton Spencer greenway

The greenway is an old railway line between Leek and north of Rudyard Lake.

Size: Greenway is 5.3 miles, lake is 2.5 miles long.

Location: (Car park) Rudyard Lake, Rudyard, Nr Leek, Staffordshire ST13 8XB

Facilities: Parking at Rudyard Lake, Steam Railway, Baby changing, Disabled toilets, Education and Study areas, on-site catering, picnic area, public toilets, guided tours.

Shop and Café:
April to September open Weekdays 10am to 5pm, weekends 10am to 6pm

Runs all week at varying times (weather dependant).

Shop and Café:
October to March open Weekends - 10am to 5pm

Oakamoor greenway and picnic area

The Oakamoor picnic area is adjacent to the Oakamoor-Denstone Greenway, a disused railway running along the Churnet Valley.

Size: Greenway is 4.3 miles.

Location: (Oakamoor Picnic Area), Mill Lane, Oakamoor, Nr Cheadle, Staffordshire.

Facilities: Parking, toilets, shops, picnic area, outdoor activity grounds.

Opening hours

Open all year round.
