Policy
When we determine planning applications for minerals or waste developments and the county council's own developments we refer to the relevant planning policies in our Minerals Local Plan, Waste Local Plan or in the Local Plan adopted by the Staffordshire borough/district council known collectively as 'the development plan':
The development plan documents adopted we've adopted are:
The development plan documents adopted by Stoke-on-Trent City Council and the Staffordshire district or borough councils are available on their websites:
Statement of community involvement
Our statement of community involvement (SCI) explains how we will consult with people and organisations when we are preparing planning policies or processing planning applications. Our current SCI was adopted by Cabinet on 21 August 2019.
Annual monitoring reports
We produce our annual monitoring reports (AMR) which shows how the minerals and waste local plans are working, track progress towards the plan objectives, and assess whether a plan review is required.
Minerals and waste development scheme
The minerals and waste development scheme (MWDS), sometimes referred to as the local development scheme (LDS), sets out the timetable for the preparation or revision of the new minerals and waste local plans.
The Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent joint waste local plan covers the period up to 2026, while the Staffordshire minerals local plan runs up to 2030.
In line with Regulation 10A of The Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012 (as amended), we published a 5-year review of the joint waste local plan in 2019, and our annual monitoring reports from 2018-19 onwards will contain interim reviews of both local plans. So far, they have concluded that the local plans continue to work well, and that there is no immediate need for either plan to be revised. As a result, we have not yet prepared a programme for the local plans to be revised.
We will prepare and publish a new MWDS when we get close to the end date of the minerals or waste local plan, or if a review concludes that a revision is required.
