Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984
Staffordshire County Council (A513 Croxall Road, near Alrewas) (PROHIBITION OF VEHICLES OVER 7.5 TONNES GROSS WEIGHT, PROHIBITION OF VEHICLES OVER 2.3 METRES (7FT, 6 INCHES) IN WIDTH AND 20MPH SPEED RESTRICTION (PERMANENT) ORDER 2024
- Staffordshire County Council on 16th April 2024 made a Traffic Regulation Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to replicate and continue indefinitely the provisions of the following order:
(A513 Croxall Road, near Alrewas) (PROHIBITION OF VEHICLES OVER 7.5 TONNES GROSS WEIGHT AND OVER 2.3 METRES (7FT, 6 INCHES) IN WIDTH AND 20MPH SPEED RESTRICTION
EXPERIMENTAL ORDER 2022.
2. Documents may be examined during office hours at 1 Staffordshire Place, Tipping Street, Stafford, ST16 2DH and during opening hours at Lichfield Library, The Guild of St Mary’s Centre, Market Square, Lichfield and Tamworth Library, Corporation Street, Tamworth.
3. Persons questioning the validity or provisions of the Order on the grounds that such powers are not conferred by the Act, or that any requirement or instrument made under the Act has not been complied with, may within 6 weeks from the date the Order was made apply to the High Court.
4. The Order will commence on 21st April 2024

The Staffordshire County Council (“The Council”) in exercise of its powers under Sections 1, 2 and 3 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“The 1984 Act”) and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to The 1984 Act, herby makes the following Order:-
- The provisions contained within the following order are replicated in Articles 2 & 3 and continued indefinitely:

EXPERIMENTAL ORDER 2022
- No person shall, use, cause, or permit the following:
Any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross operating weight of 7.5 tonnes subject to note (1), to proceed in any of the length of road specified in the Schedule to this Order;
Any vehicle exceeding a maximum width of 2.3 metre (7ft, 6 inches) to proceed in any of the length of road specified in the Schedule to this Order;
Any vehicle exceeding a maximum speed of 20mph in any of the length of road specified in the Schedule to this Order.
- If a vehicle is assessed and found to be no worse than the National Standard 7.5 Tonne standard vehicle convoy of “CS 454 Assessment of Highway Structures and Bridges”, the vehicle may be exempted from the 7.5 Tonne gross weight restriction. A person authorised by the Traffic Manager may issue a discretionary exemption letter as a defence against prosecution. A register of exempt vehicles will be kept by Staffordshire County Council.
2. This Order may be cited as the Staffordshire County Council (A513 Croxall Road, near Alrewas) (Prohibition of Vehicles over 7.5 Tonnes Gross Weight, Prohibition of Vehicles over 2.3 Metres (7ft, 6 inches) in width and 20mph Speed Restriction) (Permanent) Order 2024 and shall come into operation on 21st April 2024.
Schedule
A513 Croxall Road, near Alrewas - starting from a point approximately 450 metres east of its roundabout with Barley Green Lane and continuing for a further distance, to a point approximately 245 metres in a generally easterly direction.
