(30 and 40 mph Speed Limit) Order 2024

1. Staffordshire County Council on 22^nd October 2024 made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 that imposed a 40 mph speed limit on A449 Stafford Road, Penkridge.
2. This Order will revoke the Staffordshire County Council (Restricted Roads) and the Staffordshire County council (40 mph Speed Limit) (A449 Penkridge) Order 2013 insofar as it relates to this Order.
3. Documents may be examined during office hours at 1 Staffordshire Place, Tipping Street, Stafford, ST16 2DH and during opening hours at Penkridge Library, Bellbrook, Penkridge, Staffordshire or at www.staffordshire.gov.uk/trafficregulationorders
4. Persons questioning the validity or provisions of the Order on the grounds that such powers are not conferred by the Act, or that any requirement or instrument made under the Act has not been complied with, may within 6 weeks from the date the Order was made apply to the High Court.

The Order will commence on 25^th October 2024

Staffordshire County Council (A449 Stafford Road, Penkridge)

(30 and 40 mph Speed Limit) Order 2024

The Staffordshire County Council ("the Council") in exercise of its powers under Sections 84(1) and (2) and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 ("the Act") and all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby makes the following Order:- 

1.         No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 30 mph on the length of road specified in Schedule 1 to this Order. 

2.         No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 40 mph on the length of road specified in Schedule 2 to this Order. 

3.         No speed limit imposed by this Order applies to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations. 

4.         This Order hereby revokes that part of the Staffordshire County Council (Restricted Roads) and the Staffordshire County Council (40 mph Speed Limit) (A449 Penkridge) Order 2013 insofar as it relates to the Schedule to this Order. 

5.         This Order may be cited as the Staffordshire County Council (A449 Stafford Road, Penkridge) (30 and 40 mph Speed Limit) Order 2024 and shall come into operation on 25th day of October 2024.

Schedule 1 30 MPH 

A449 Stafford Road, Penkridge – extending approximately 450 metres in a northerly direction from the point where the existing 30 MPH Speed Limit terminates just north of Penkridge. 

Schedule 2 40 MPH 

A449 Stafford Road, Penkridge – extending approximately 200 metres in a northerly direction from the point the above 30 MPH Speed limit terminates.
