Reuse: Consider if the material can be re-used in another home project.

Recycle (charges apply): Soil and hardcore can be taken to any of Staffordshire's recycling centres. There is a charge of £3 per bag. This includes rubble, bricks, tiles and ceramics. Charges are based on standard rubble bags which are approximately 76cm x 96 cm. They are available from DIY stores or you can buy them from the recycling centre for 10p. Waste can be presented loose or in different sized bags and charges will be estimated by staff.

Recycle: Clothes can be taken to the recycling centre where they will be sent for sorting. Good quality clothing is exported to areas in need of clothing. Items not suitable for reuse are either processed into industrial wiping cloths or recycled.

Recycle (charges apply): Sinks, pedestals, and toilets can be taken to any of Staffordshire's recycling centres. There is a charge of £3 per item, however a sink and a pedestal is classed as one item, as is a toilet and a cistern.

Small electricals

Description
Electrical items should never be thrown in the rubbish bin, they contain hazardous and valuable materials and should be recycled properly.

Reuse: Staffordshire recycling centres have a reuse area where items in good condition can be donated. Charity shops accept a wide variety of items. Reuse networks such as Freecycle, Freegle and Ecobees allow members to advertise goods. There are a variety of online selling websites. Other options are advertising in the local paper, or noticeboards in a newsagents or some supermarkets.

Recycle: Small electrical and electronic items are accepted through some council collections. They also offer bulky waste collections for larger items. Check your local council for further information and charges. Small and large electrical and electronic items can be brought to any of Staffordshire's recycling centres.

Smoke alarm

There are two types of smoke alarm, optical and ionisation. Optical alarms can be accepted at Staffordshire's recycling centres. Ionisation alarms contain small amounts of radiation and are not accepted, please contact the manufacturer for disposal advice. If you are unsure what type you have, ionisation alarms will have the radioactive symbol inside the alarm.

Recycle (charges apply): The charges will be based upon the quantity of material deposited, the first two 50L bags will be free of charge. Payment for bags* will be whole or multiple of bags.

£3 per bag or unit (e.g. a Shower Screen) after the first two bags. You can pay with credit or debit cards, as we cannot accept cash or cheques.
