Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Sustainability Transformation Plan

"What is this?

A blueprint for the future of health and social care across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent  was published in December 2016.

The Sustainability Transformation Plan (STP) maps out how the NHS and local government will improve health and care services. It will ensure that we can live within our budgets by 2021.

As a county council, we have a key role to play in helping people lead healthier independent lives and providing social care services. We have been working with NHS partners to shape the plan from the outset.

What will happen?

The plan looks at how greater focus can be given to prevention of ill-health. It looks at how more care can be provided in local communities rather than in hospitals.

It also suggests switching from three A & E departments across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent to two and creating an urgent care centre.

These are still proposals at this stage. Further public consultation on the plan will take place later this year.
