Jobs and careers
Here at Staffordshire County Council we see the importance of having a diverse workforce with experience from many different sectors and those who have served in the armed forces often have many transferable skills we can benefit from. We also recognise the challenge which can be faced by those transitioning from a career in the armed forces into civilian roles. That’s why we have recruitment policies to support the Armed Forces community. In particular, we guarantee interviews for current, ex-service personnel, and Reservists where they demonstrate that they meet the minimum criteria for the role they have applied for. We also recognise the important role reservists and cadets play in the armed forces so offer 10 days extra paid leave each year for training.
Work experience
If you have left, or plan to leave the armed forces, we can help you find a work experience placement through our Open Door Staffordshire scheme. The scheme is a voluntary work experience placement scheme established to enable job-seekers to gain valuable up-to-date work experience to help towards securing permanent paid employment.
Volunteering
Once you have left the armed forces you may be able to make time to volunteer. You can make positive changes to people's lives whilst developing your own skills at the same time, find out more information about Volunteering.
