Curriculum delivery

The Key Person ensures that:

  • the instructions in nursery are clear, concise and consistent – longer instructions are broken down into smaller steps when required
  • expectations of behaviour in the setting are clear and understood by the children
  • routines are flexible and can be adjusted according to individual needs
  • there is effective use of ICT resources and other nursery resources
  • children who display appropriate behaviour are frequently noticed and praised, as appropriate to individual need
  • they use praise that is specific and meaningful and is aimed at effort and learning behaviour rather than just achievement
  • they give regular age-appropriate feedback to children on their learning and progress
  • there are opportunities for flexible groupings and pairings and children have access to positive and aspirational role models for their play and learning
  • resources are age appropriate, inclusive and relevant
  • there are opportunities for children to take some responsibility within the nursery, for example, giving out resources/serving at snack time etc
