Route reviews
Over time the children and young people travelling to school change as do the needs of those continuing to travel. To ensure passengers needs continue to be met, it is important to review travel arrangements and in doing so we can also ensure we are delivering the best value for public money.
Below is information about what happens when travel arrangements are reviewed.
Why travel arrangements are reviewed.
Over time the children and young people travelling to school change as do the needs of those continuing to travel.
A review presents an opportunity to ensure passenger’s needs continue to be met and ensure that the service delivers the best value for public money.
What happens when arrangements are reviewed.
We work in partnership with your child’s school and arrange routes to be as efficiently as possible considering the needs, location, access, pick-up and support requirements of each child.
You will be notified a review is underway, made aware of the timescales and be given an opportunity to make direct representation.
What you can do
We understand parents and children often build a relationship with their driver and passenger assistant and that change can be challenging so we will take steps to ensure the transition to a new transport arrangement is a smooth as possible.
Tell us about your child’s needs.
We will account for your child’s needs when making the arrangements so please be sure to let us know of specific requirements.
Talk to your child about the likelihood of change.
Arrangements can change following a review. The driver and passenger assistant (where one is approved) may change as can the passengers your child travel with. It is understood that change is difficult for many of the children and information is provided in advance to help manage any transition.
Who you can talk to
You can contact the lead review officer at any stage to discuss concerns you may have. Their contact information will be provided on the review notification you receive.
