Volunteer Litter picker
Description of the role:
The primary role of the Litter picking volunteer is to pick up litter along pre-agreed routes and areas. You will be part of the local team to ensure that Cannock Chase and the Country Parks are kept free of litter so they can be enjoyed safely by everyone including the wildlife who are resident in the parks. We are looking for volunteers who have an interest in being active whilst helping to improve the site for all. This is an outdoor role and can be in range of weather conditions and terrains.
Tasks include:
The primary duty of all Litter picking volunteers is to collect litter from along agreed routes or areas. Another task would be letting the Countryside Officers at the site know the location of:
- Fly-tipping.
- Large litter items.
- Sharps or hazardous waste.
- Other site issues.
We would not expect you do deal with any of the above issues.
The essential requirements of the role are to:
- Be able to represent Staffordshire County Council in a positive manner.
- Have an unbiased and diplomatic manner.
- Have a friendly and positive attitude with good communication skills.
- Be able to follow instruction.
- Have a love for the countryside.
- Attend SCC volunteer training and any other relevant courses.
- Agree to wear suitable clothing and footwear.
- Be keen to be outdoors in a range of weather conditions and walking over a range of terrains.
