NHS health check
What is an NHS health check?
If you’re aged 40 to 74 with no pre-existing medical conditions, you can have a free NHS health check. Think of it as a midlife MOT, to help you know more about your health and how to keep fit and well. It could stop you getting heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease or having a stroke.
You'll be asked some easy questions and then a health professional will do some simple tests. Most people will find that they’re fit and well. But a few people may need to make small changes to their lifestyle to help them stay healthy.
Why should I get checked?
Anyone can get heart disease or diabetes or kidney disease or have a stroke. As you get older you are more at risk of getting these illnesses.
That's why it's important you have an NHS Health Check as it can flag early signs of these illnesses. This means you can take action to prevent them and lower your risk, so you can enjoy your life for longer.
Why don't you start off by taking the heart age test to see how healthy your heart is?
