If you need to report an emergency please call 0300 111 8000 and you will be presented with an automated message that provides a contact number for the out of hours pager service.

Issues that can be considered an emergency are:

  • Sinkholes
  • Missing drain or manhole covers
  • Exposed wires on streetlights
  • Traffic lights not working
  • A road sign that is a 'stop' sign and/or has sharp corners, has fallen into the road or is likely to fall
  • A fallen tree in the road
  • Flooding that is making a road impassable or entering domestic rooms of a property
  • Damaged pedestrian guard rails that are leaning into the road or are sharp
  • Deceased animal in the road

If the highway defect you wish to report is not considered to be an emergency, please wait until our usual online form for defects is back up and running.
