ORDER 20**
1. Staffordshire County Council propose to make a Traffic Regulation Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to prohibit the use by any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross operating weight of 13 tonnes on Brookhay Lane, Hilliards Cross
2. Documents may be examined during office hours at 1 Staffordshire Place, Tipping Street, Stafford, ST16 2DH and during opening hours at Lichfield Library, The Guild of St Mary's Centre, Market Square, Lichfield, Staffordshire, WS13 6LG or at www.staffordshire.gov.uk/trafficregulationorders.
3. Objections or representations should be sent in writing to: Highway Maintenance and Network Management, Third Floor, Staffordshire Place 1, Tipping Street, Stafford, ST16 2DH or to: trafficregulationorderobjections@staffordshire.gov.uk not later than 30/10/2024 quoting reference HoCPS/TM/TR26/24 and stating the grounds on which they are made.

1. Staffordshire County Council on sealing date made a Traffic Regulation Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to prohibit the use by any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross metric operating weight of 13 tonnes on Brookhay Lane, Hilliards Cross.
2. Documents may be examined during office hours at 1 Staffordshire Place, Tipping Street, Stafford, ST16 2DH and during opening hours at Lichfield Library, The Guild of St Mary's Centre, Market Square, Lichfield, Staffordshire, WS13 6LG or at www.staffordshire.gov.uk/trafficregulationorders.
3. Persons questioning the validity or provisions of the Order on the grounds that such powers are not conferred by the Act, or that any requirement or instrument made under the Act has not been complied with, may within 6 weeks from the date the Order was made apply to the High Court.
4. The Order will commence on insert date

ORDER 20**
The Staffordshire County Council ("the Council") in exercise of their powers under sections 1(1), 2(4) and 3(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("the Act"), and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby make the following Order:-
1. This Order shall come into operation on the 20** and may be cited as the Staffordshire County Council ( Brookhay Lane, Hilliards Cross ) (Prohibition of Vehicles over 13 tonnes gross) Order 20**.
2. In this Order, "any vehicle" means a vehicle as defined in Section 138 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984.
3. No person shall, except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable in uniform, use, cause, or permit any vehicle to proceed in any of the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Order.

Statement of Reason
Following recent assessment by the Highway Authority it is proposed to introduce a prohibition of vehicles exceeding 13 tonnes maximum gross weight on Brookhay Lane at Canal Bridge B1297 in order to avoid damage and collapse of the structure and moreover to ensure the safety of highway users.
Proposed Schedule
The Highway Authority proposes to impose for structural reasons a 13 tonne maximum vehicle gross weight limit on D3073 Brookhay Lane for an approximate 20m length over which Brookhay Lane is carried by bridge (Ref. No. B1297) across the Coventry Canal.
