Reduce

Consider only buying what you really need.

Reuse

Before you throw anything away why not see if it can be reused, repaired or upcycled? There are lots of ways this can be done:

Charity shops

Charity shops accept a wide variety of items. Please contact your local charity shop for more information on what they can accept.

Recycling centre

Clothes can be taken to the recycling centre where they will be sent for sorting. Good quality clothing is exported to areas in need of clothing.

Reuse networks

Reuse networks such as Freecycle, Freegle and Ecobees allow members to advertise goods for reuse or sharing through local groups and forums. Membership and advertising is free and everything offered must also be free.

Sell

There are a variety of online selling arenas, such as eBay. Other options are advertising in the local paper, or newsagent’s window. If you have quite a few items why not consider a car boot sale?

Upcycle

How about being creative and turning an old item into something stylish? The love your clothes website gives some great ideas and tips on how to upcycle clothing. Some garments can be torn up and used as rags and wipers.

Recycle

Clothes can be taken to the recycling centre where they will be sent for sorting. Good quality clothing is exported to areas in need of clothing. Items not suitable for reuse are either processed into industrial wiping cloths or recycled.

Where can I take these?
