Staffordshire County Council Code of Conduct for Photography and Videography
We will always store any still or moving images of you, or anyone for whom you have responsibility, safely. And we will only use them in specific projects for which we have your consent.
Managing your consent
You can withdraw your consent for us to use images or footage of yourself, or anyone for whom you have responsibility such as a child or vulnerable adult, at any time.
Either call 0300 111 8000 and ask for Communications or email communications@staffordshire.gov.uk.
Once you tell us that you withdraw consent we will work with you to ensure that all relevant individual photos, or sets of photos, and footage are deleted from our systems.
In all circumstances we will:
- Never publish photos or footage of you where we do not have your consent.
- Never present you in a manner likely to cause you embarrassment or offence.
- Never reveal your personal details such as age, address or telephone number within a photo or footage. In very rare circumstances where this would be useful, we will discuss it with you and ask for your consent.
- Keep photos and footage of you on our system for a maximum of 4 years. After 4 years we will delete them
- Retain the copyright to all photos and footage taken during a photo or video shoot
When using photos or footage of children under 16 years old we will:
- Always ensure that permission has been given directly by the child’s parents, carers or legal guardians.
- In the case of photos or footage taken within a school, we will ensure that the school’s existing parental consent system states that any images might also be used by Staffordshire County Council.
- Not use images of children to illustrate child protection issues relating to the Fostering and Adoption service or Youth Offending Service. In very rare circumstances where this would be useful, we will contact their parents or guardians to discuss and ask for written consent.
When using photos or footage of vulnerable adults we will:
- Always ensure that permission has been granted by their care giver or guardian.
- Not use their images to illustrate subjects such as the abuse of older people. In very rare circumstances where this would be useful, we will contact their primary care giver to discuss and ask for written consent.
