Safety Advisory Group
Our Safety of Sports Grounds Team coordinates and chairs a Safety Advisory Group (SAG) for each certified venue in the county.
Lord Taylor, author of the Final report into the Hillsborough Stadium Disaster said the Safety Advisory Group:
"Exists primarily to provide specialist advice to the local authority so that it may effectively discharge its functions under the 1975/1987 Acts, it also provides a vital forum to develop a corporate approach to spectator safety."
Apart from appropriate members of local authority, a Safety Advisory Group should include:
- Police representatives
- Fire service
- Ambulance service
- Building control
- The safety certificate holder, or other representatives of the ground management. This includes the Safety Officer.
