Wraparound childcare programme

Staffordshire County Council have both programme and capital grant funding to deliver the National Wraparound Childcare Programme. This funding will support the creation of new or expand provision where either there is no provision or where demand exceeds supply, working with primary schools and private, voluntary and independent (PVI) providers (including childminders and early years settings).

What can funding be used for?

Capital Programme can be used so providers can ensure that inclusive provision is set up from the beginning, by using it to establish inclusive spaces and buy inclusive equipment and resources.

Programme funding can be used to cover costs including staffing, training, and transport costs such as minibus hire (not purchase, although capital funding could be used for this), as well as resources. It can also be used to contribute to running costs whilst demand builds, to remove any financial risk to providers of offering additional places before demand is guaranteed.

What next?

Now Expression of Interest (EOI) have been submitted by providers, these will help inform Staffordshire County Council’s Wraparound Childcare Programme Delivery Plan which is due to be returned to the Department for Education (DfE) by 14th June 2024. Providers will be updated in due course.

Providers were advised to read the following documents thoroughly before submitting their EOI:
