CX027 Structural Maintenance Work for the Windmill Hill Roundabout, Meir Heath

Staffordshire County Council will shortly be carrying out significant works at the Windmill Hill roundabout in Meir Heath as they start work on an £450,000 investment in the local area. The team will be replacing ironwork where necessary, replacing damaged kerbs and resurfacing the carriageway.

The works will be conducted under lane closures, and nighttime closures for the resurfacing of the carriageway.

When are the works taking place?

The work will commence on the 21st October 2024

When will the works be completed?

Approximately 7 weeks to complete the works.

Will I be able to access my home/business?

For the safety of the public and of the work force this road will be closed during the resurfacing of the carriageway. The first road closure will be in place on the 11th and 12th of November. Then there will be a final road closure in place on the 20th and 21st of November to complete the carriageway surfacing. To keep disturbance to a minimum the road closures will be restricted to the hours of 19:00 and 06:00.

Access to the surrounding roads for residents will be maintained for the majority of the scheme. Delays must be expected during resurfacing phases.

During the road closures, a diversion route will be in place for properties outside the workspace, no through traffic will be permitted.

What effect could the works have on me?

We take care to make sure that work is completed with the minimum of disturbance to the local community but as with any major works, some minor traffic delays may occur.

Although we will do our best to ensure that noise pollution is kept to a minimum, it is likely that construction noise will be heard during the working times.

Please take care to plan your journeys and if necessary move vehicles to an accessible location during work phases (public letters will be delivered to affected properties with specific scheme details).

How you can help us

You can help us to get the job done with the minimum disruption by following this advice:

  • Please keep children away from the works while they are being implemented to ensure their safety.
  • Please drive appropriately by following the signed diversion routes and adhering to access restrictions.
  • Account for possible delays when planning journeys
