Repairs to Day Hole Bridge Manifold Way, Near Ecton

Staffordshire County Council is repairing Day Hole Bridge which carries the Manifold Way walking and cycling route over the River Manifold.

The work will entail repairing and painting the existing steelwork, before casting a new deck and installing new parapet railings.

When are the works taking place?

Preliminary work is due to start in the week commencing 19 August, preparing an access to get materials and equipment to the bridge without causing significant disruption to the Manifold Way.

Work on the bridge is likely to start after the bank holiday in the week commencing 26 August.

When will the works be completed?

Approximately 13 weeks to complete the works.

Will I be able to access my home/business?

Yes

What effect could the works have on me?

The construction work will affect walkers, cyclists and horse riders on the Manifold Way.  During this period, a temporary scaffold bridge will be provided to enable walkers and cyclists to cross the River Manifold.  Horses can also be accommodated but we would ask that riders dismount and lead their horse across the temporary bridge.

How you can help us

You can help us to get the job done with the minimum disruption by following this advice:

  • Please keep children away from the works while they are being implemented to ensure their safety.
  • Please be aware of construction traffic accessing the site.
