Cheddleton Heath Bridge
Further to a recent inspection of Cheddleton Heath Bridge it was discovered the underside of the concrete bridge deck (soffit) has deteriorated badly. Staffordshire County Council Highways team is undertaking essential work to repair the bridge deck and refurbish the bridge to protect public safety. The works will cost approximately £70,000 and will extend the structures useful life for several more years or possibly decades.
Most repairs will be carried out under Cheddleton Heath Bridge, while the Churnet Valley Railway is closed for the winter season. However, some works will require a lane closure under temporary traffic lights, (estimated 2-week duration).
When are the works taking place?
8 January 2024 subject to obtaining all relevant statutory consents.
When will the works be completed?
March 2024, (estimated 8 weeks works duration), subject to obtaining all relevant statutory consents.

What effect could the works have on me?
One lane of the A520 Leek/ Cheadle Road will be closed to vehicular traffic. The works may lead to delays but, pedestrian access will be maintained where possible.
