Highway improvement works - High Street, Cheadle
Amey Highways, on behalf of Staffordshire County Council, will be carrying out highway improvement works along the High Street in Cheadle on Sunday, May 19, 2024, between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm.
The scheme aims to decrease illegal parking, enhance customer parking, and support local businesses by providing additional short-stay parking bays, disabled bays and loading bays.
The proposed works include installing road markings and associated signs and posts for the new restrictions.
When are the works taking place?
Sunday May 19 2024, between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm.
When will the works be completed?
Sunday May 19 2024, between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm.
Please be aware that these works are subject to weather conditions and may have to be postponed. If this is the case, you will be notified in due course.
Will I be able to access my home/business?
A road closure is required along the High Street to undertake the work safely and efficiently. Vehicular access will be limited to emergency service vehicles only and those engaged in the works. Diversion signs will be in place to guide local and through traffic during the works period, and a Traffic Management Operative will be on site to direct residents who need to access affected properties on foot within the closure. Pedestrian access will be maintained; however, we do ask that you take extra care when passing through this section of the works.
What effect could the works have on me?
Unfortunately, the proposed work cannot be carried out without a road closure. During this period, the A521 High Street will be closed for traffic, and we expect the traffic to follow the diversion route: Cheadle Road in Forsbrook through Uttoxeter Road in Draycott in the Moors and A522 in Mobberley or vice versa. We will install diversion signs along this route and warn the traffic about the road closure on Cheadle High Street.
To minimise the disruption, the work is only planned to be carried out on a Sunday. During this period, please expect traffic delays and allow sufficient time to plan your journeys.

- To ensure that the work is completed on time and with minimal disruption, I kindly request that you park any vehicles away from the works area along the High Street
