Staffordshire County Council together with Amey will be carrying out bridge investigation works at the above location, ahead of bridge refurbishment works provisionally planned for summer 2025
When are the works taking place?
The scheme will commence on 17 February 2025.
When will the works be completed?
Approximately 1 week to complete the works.
How will the works be carried out?
The works will start on 17 February for 1 week under a full road closure.
The A463 Wodehouse Lane shall be closed from the junction with the A449 Stourbridge Road (Battlefield Roundabout) to approximately 550m to the east, at the junction with access roads to Wodehouse cottages. Access to frontages shall be maintained.
During the works a diversion route shall be in place as follows:
When approaching from the west to A463 Wodehouse Lane
- Continue north at Battlefield Roundabout along A449 Stourbridge Road for approximately 1.6km
- At the roundabout, take the third exit onto A449 Penn Road, continue for approximately 2.6km
- At the junction, turn right onto A4039 Goldthorn Hill, continue for approximately 1.4km
- At the junction, turn right onto A459 Wolverhampton Road East continue for approximately 3.0km
- At the roundabout, take the third exit onto Gospel End Street, continue for approximately 0.4km
- Continue onto A463 Gospel End Road for approximately 1.4km
- At Gospel End the A463 Gospel End becomes A463 Wodehouse Lane
When approaching from the east the above diversion route applies in reverse.
During summer 2025, bridge refurbishment works shall require a road closure for a longer duration, exact details will be confirmed in due course.
What effect could the works have on me?
We take care to make sure that work is completed with the minimum of disturbance to the local community but as with any road closure, some delays may occur.
