Infrastructure

The development of physical infrastructure, housing and improved connectivity is seen as fundamental to economic growth in Staffordshire.  Supporting the construction of more housing to meet the growing needs of families and people young and old is a top priority for Staffordshire County Council.

Developing the right employment land and housing stock can help attract greater inward investment, retain and grow the local skilled workforce and improve the lives of the most vulnerable residents. At the same time, supporting the improvement and development of shared resources such as utilities, highways and technology are all vitally important to creating a stronger, more resilient local economy.

This section considers priority areas including housing, employment land and digital use.

Digital use

This year, smartphones have become an increasingly popular device for getting online. 71% of people now own a smartphone using it to browse the internet, access social media, online bank and shop online. Staffordshire is also on its way to being a superfast broadband county and this will enable more people to have quicker and easier online access. Digital access and skills do however vary amongst Staffordshire's communities and enabling equal access amongst our communities will be a real challenge.

The Strategy Team has produced a briefing note on Digital Use in Staffordshire and the UK. The briefing note contains a range of data and graphics containing a variety of digital and technology topics.
