CX019 Structural Maintenance Work for the A53, Newcastle Rd, Baldwins Gate

Staffordshire County Council will shortly be carrying out significant works at A53, Newcastle Rd, Baldwins Gate, as they start work on a £220,000 investment in the local area.

The team will be replacing ironwork where necessary, replacing damaged kerbs and resurfacing the carriageway. There will be a road closure in place on the scheme during the night to allow for the carriageway resurfacing to take place.

When are the works taking place?

The work will commence 12 February 2024

When will the works be completed?

Works are expected to be completed by 8 March 2024.

Will I be able to access my home/business?

For the safety of the public and work force there will be a road closure in place between the dates of 26 February to the 8 March. Between the hours of 19:00 & 06:00.

For the small number of properties within the work area access will be maintained when safe to do so. Delays must be expected during resurfacing phases.

A diversion rout will be in place for properties outside the work space, no through traffic will be permitted.

What effect could the works have on me?

We take care to make sure that work is completed with the minimum of disturbance to the local community but as with any major works, some minor traffic delays may occur.

Although we will do our best to ensure that noise pollution is kept to a minimum, it is likely that construction noise will be heard during the working times.

Please take care to plan your journeys and if necessary move vehicles to an accessible location during work phases (public letters will be delivered to affected properties with specific scheme details).

How you can help us

You can help us to get the job done with the minimum disruption by following this advice:

  • Please keep children away from the works while they are being implemented to ensure their safety.
  • Please drive appropriately by following the signed diversion routes and adhering to access restrictions.
  • Account for possible delays when planning journeys
