CX007, Structural Maintenance Works on A5127 Birmingham Road, Lichfield

Staffordshire County Council will shortly be carrying out significant works at A5127 Birmingham Road, Lichfield as work commences on a £1,150,000 investment in the local area.

This scheme of work is due to take place between St John Street and Green Hill. This is inclusive of both traffic light junctions at either end of the site.

Work will include replacement of ironwork where necessary, replacing damaged kerbs and resurfacing the carriageway, traffic signal loops and road marking s will all be replaced.

All civils and preparation works will be done under temporary traffic management where possible. A road closure will be required during these surfacing phases of the works. These details and access arrangements will be provided when the construction programme is finalised.

When are the works taking place?

The work will commence on 3 June and will take approximately 7 weeks. Weeks 1-3 Civils works will be undertaken under multi-way directional signals. Surfacing phasing and Road closures are expected to take place at night time where possible. This detail will be updated when programming is completed.

How long will the works take?

Approximately 7 weeks.

Will I be able to access my home/business?

For the safety of the public and of the work force, there will be phased traffic management including lane closures and traffic signals. Where road closures are required a full diversion route will be in place. Weeks 1-3 of the scheme we will use multi directional signals only.

What effect could the works have on me?

We take care to make sure that work is completed with the minimum of disturbance to the local community but as with any major works, some minor traffic delays may occur.

Although we will do our best to ensure that noise pollution is kept to a minimum, it is likely that construction noise will be heard during the working times.

Please take care to plan your journeys as delays may be expected during the works.

How you can help us

You can help us to get the job done with the minimum of fuss by following this advice:

  • Please keep children away from the works to ensure their safety.
  • Please drive slowly and cautiously through the works.
  • Check your shoes before entering your property or car to make sure there is no bitumen from the works.

If you have any questions about the work or, concerns about how the work is being carried out, please do not hesitate to contact us via
