Structural Maintenance Work for the A5127
Staffordshire County Council will shortly be carrying out significant works on the A5127 Trent Valley Road, Lichfield, as part of the Council’s ongoing investment into its roads in Staffordshire.
Works will include the removal of the existing carriageway surface and replacing it with a new surface, along with other preparation works known as civil works. This will include the replacement of damage kerbs, installation of a new tactile crossings and the renewal and re-setting of carriageway ironworks.
When are the works taking place?
The work will commence on the 25 March and it is anticipated to be completed by the 12 April 2024.
When will the works be completed?
Approximately 3 weeks to complete the works.
Will I be able to access my home/business?
During our civil works, temporary traffic signals and off-peak road closures (9.30am – 3pm) will be in operation. A local signed diversion routes will be in place during the individual closures; along with designated personnel at either end of the closure points to offer assistance and assist with access when safe to do so.
To safely complete the carriageway surfacing and road marking phases of works along Trent Valley Road and at the junctions of Wissage Road, we will be undertaking this works overnight. This will help to minimise disruption to the local area, in particular when traffic volumes are reduced, enabling the works to be completed as soon as possible.
For the number of properties within the work area, access will be maintained when safe to do so, however at times access may not be possible within the areas of work for short periods. This is for both your safety and the safety of the workforce.
A primary road diversion route will be in place for through traffic during the closures.
Additional advance signage will be in place at key strategic points for the Emergency services and members of the public wanting to access the hospital during the overnight road closures.
What effect could the works have on me?
We take care to make sure that work is completed with the minimum of disturbance to the local community but as with any major works, some minor traffic delays may occur.
Although we will do our best to ensure that noise pollution is kept to a minimum, it is likely that construction noise will be heard during the working times.
Please take care to plan your journeys and if necessary move vehicles to an accessible location.
Ahead of the works taking place, residential letters will be delivered to affected properties with specific scheme details.
