Staffordshire Moorlands roadworks overview

The majority of road works are carried out by the utility companies such as gas, water, phone and electric companies. For more information on these road works please visit One Network.

Please note: The information below only lists planned road improvements by the county council.

To report a road or lighting fault the easiest way is to report it online.

In Progress

  • Repair the Cheddleton Heath bridge deck and refurbish the bridge to protect public safety. Expected to be completed in March 2024.

  • Following an embankment slip on the A52 at Kingsley Bank supported by Froghall Retaining Wall last year, the road was repaired and reopened. Our Highways team is now undertaking essential works to address the cause of the embankment slip and hopefully stabilise Froghall Bank Retaining Wall. Expected to be completed in June 2024.

Scheduled

Staffordshire County Council will shortly be carrying out significant works at the Windmill Hill roundabout in Meir Heath as they start work on an £450,000 investment in the local area. The team will be replacing ironwork where necessary, replacing damaged kerbs and resurfacing the carriageway.

The works will be conducted under lane closures, and nighttime closures for the resurfacing of the carriageway.

  • Highway improvement works - High Street, Cheadle - Amey Highways, on behalf of Staffordshire County Council, will be carrying out highway improvement works along the High Street in Cheadle on Sunday May 19 2024, between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm.

The scheme aims to decrease illegal parking, enhance customer parking, and support local businesses by providing additional short-stay parking bays, disabled bays and loading bays.

The proposed works include installing road markings and associated signs and posts for the new restrictions.
  • Staffordshire County Council is repairing Day Hole Bridge which carries the Manifold Way walking and cycling route over the River Manifold.

The work will entail repairing and painting the existing steelwork, before casting a new deck and installing new parapet railings.
