Stafford roadworks overview

The majority of road works are carried out by the utility companies such as gas, water, phone and electric companies. For more information on these road works please visit One Network.

Please note: The information below only lists planned road improvements by the county council.

To report a road or lighting fault the easiest way is to report it online.

In Progress

  • Essential work to both replace the deck waterproofing system and strengthen the weak service bays of Sandon bridge. Expected to be completed in June 2024.

  • A34 Gaol Square roundabout - Staffordshire County Council together with Amey will be carrying out drainage repairs, kerbing, footway and carriageway resurfacing at the above location. 
  • Improvements will be made to the junction of the A34 and A513 at Beaconside - Redhill roundabout with an expected duration of 13 months.

 

Scheduled

  • A34 Weeping Cross to Stafford - We will be carrying out maintenance and infrastructure improvements along the A34 Corridor, from Weeping Cross to the Town Centre. The scheme includes road and transport improvements including road and bridge maintenance work, active travel, passenger transport and street lighting improvements on the A34, between Stafford Town Centre and the A34/A513 double traffic island junction at Weeping Cross.
  • CX027 Structural Maintenance Work for the Windmill Hill Roundabout, Meir Heath - We will shortly be carrying out significant works at the Windmill Hill roundabout in Meir Heath as we start work on an £450,000 investment in the local area. The team will be replacing ironwork where necessary, replacing damaged kerbs and resurfacing the carriageway. The works will be conducted under lane closures, and night time closures for the resurfacing of the carriageway.

 

Recently Completed 

  • A34 Stone Road - These highway works are associated with the Pets At Home development off the A34 Stone Road, Stafford.
  • A449 Wolverhampton Road, Stafford - Staffordshire County Council together with Amey will be carrying out drainage repairs, kerbing, footway patching and carriageway resurfacing at the above location.

  • Drainage Works Redhill Road, Stone - Staffordshire County Council in conjunction with Amey Ltd will shortly be carrying out significant works on Redhill Road, Stone to improve the existing highway surface water drainage systems.
